Vehicle Scrapping Policy (India)
The Vehicle Scrapping Policy is a forward-thinking initiative by the Government of India to retire old, polluting, and unsafe vehicles in an eco-conscious way. It’s all about cleaner roads, greener air, and safer journeys!
The main objectives of the Vehicle Scrapping Policy include:

Policy
- 🚘 Private Vehicles: Must be scrapped after 20 years if they fail fitness/emission tests.
- 🚛 Commercial Vehicles: Lifespan limited to 15 years without valid fitness certification.
- 🔧 Automated Fitness Testing: Mandatory checks at certified, high-tech testing centers.
Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs)
- Authorized Centers Only: Only authorized scrapping centers are allowed to dismantle and recycle vehicles.
- Eco-Friendly Processes: Facilities must follow environmentally sound dismantling procedures.
- Digital Compliance: Digital tracking and certificate of vehicle destruction are mandatory.
